Assistance likes to give Charlie a wide range of foods so he remains easy to feed without developing an expensive palate. For a cockatiel, Charlie consumes monstrous amounts of vegetables, and is particularly fond of lettuce – could eat a whole one. Charlie is also fond of sunflower seeds, and being yet young at 13 weeks, has not yet made the connection between the black striped unhulled seeds in his seed container, and the delicious hulled sunflower seeds he so fond of. He leaves those ugly striped black things alone.

Charlie’s comment: Yes, well I’ve been eating beetroot and brazil nuts haven’t I.  It’s not lipstick you can see. I believe it to be the duty of all beings requiring sustenance to eat from whatever is offered, as an acknowledgment that food is for sustenance, not for the tongue.  When food also appeals to the tongue, then such is a happy circumstance, but not a requirement in a world where so many cannot eat, and so much food is not real and therefore either offers no sustenance, or worse, is actively toxic.
